After it was all cleaned up and organized, I took my last necker blank that is already heat treated by Bos (steel is CPM D2) I put on a fresh belt and tried some new grinding. I wanted a deep swedge, which I accomplished -and, it is almost a double sided blade! (Pictures 1, 2 and 3)
The tip is slightly blunted, but I've been doing it this way - I form the point when I do the final sharpening.
I will be trying out some texturing on the black micarta handles later. Now that I have my blasting cabinet, I will be blasting the entire blade and the handles.
Well, I never leave things alone and quit when I should. I went back down to the shop and continued grinding this one. Got the edge nice and thin (I think I can get it even thinner though) Moved some of the initial bevel up (which I think I might have messed up) But, I'm having fun experimenting! (Pictures 4, 5 and 6)
